Tips For Selling Your Jewelry For Profit

by sweetheart on February 16, 2012

In order to get a good deal on jewelry, consider buying it used. People often sell their lightly used jewelry. Their reasonable pricing may give a buyer a better item for the money, and the quality will be as nice as new items.

When you are ready to buy a piece of jewelry, think about what you are going to be doing with it. A big supply of jewelry that you never wear is of little use to you. Think of the outfits that you own, and use those to help you choose your jewelry.

A stone that people do not often think of is Alexandrite. Depending on your environment, the stone’s color switches between green and purple. Alexandrite is mostly found in rings, earrings, and pendants.

It has become quite trendy to wear jewelry items of both silver and yellow gold at the same time. The easiest way to try this trend is with a single piece that contains both metals. If you do not, the look will appear dated and sloppy.

A piece of jewelry that is of high quality is something that you may have for a lifetime. Have patience when shopping, and hold out for a piece that you will never tire of.

You should always remain within your budget when purchasing jewelry. It’s not wise financially to take on a large debt to purchase a ring, no matter how fabulous it is. Engaged couples who are young and not yet financially sound are better off purchasing an inexpensive starter ring. You can always add to the ring when finances are better or add a nice ring guard as an anniversary present.

This is not the ideal cleaner for silver jewelry, but it will do when you do not have anything else. Use a paper towel or lint-free cloth to put a little bit of toothpaste on the piece. You want to rub the jewelry with the toothpaste, and then rinse it clear of the paste, or at least wipe it off. You will not obtain perfect results, but the tarnished look will be diminished.

Combining large decorative jewelry with basic outfits can have quite the effect. Wear a solid color or the “little black dress” to highlight interesting pieces.

Do not clean your jewelry with chemicals such as bleach or ammonia. Doing so can damage the shine and luster of the stones on your favorite pieces.

If you are shopping unmarked sterling silver jewelry, then by all means bring a magnet. To spot scams, see if the magnet attracts the piece. If it does, then shout “FAKE!” at the top of your lungs and move to the next store. If your silver is sterling, you will also notice a mark on the piece. This mark might state .925, sterling, or ster. If the piece of presumed silver is not marked, be skeptical that is real silver. It could very well be a fake.

If you clean your jewelry over a sink, make sure there is a plug in the drain. Jewelery covered in soap can easily slide of a finger or a wrist. To be safe, plug the drain to avoid losing your jewelry.

You can be confident in your choices now that you’ve been supplied with the tips and techniques to select the perfect piece of jewelry. Enjoy your jewelry buying, selling or wearing experience a little more now that you have the right information.
